Day 5, Part 2

Darla, one of our female Bradypus sloths, is still howling away and she is becoming increasingly popular. This morning, there was one male Brady sitting in a tree near her enclosure....

...and our Romeo from yesterday finally made his way to Darla's cage. You can tell it's the same sloth by matching up the markings of his patch. He was still sitting there at the end of the day.

In the evening, 10 of us piled into a Rav 4 - yes, 10 of us - and went to Puerto Viejo. Apparently there are only rules governing the front seats. We even have to pass a police check stop along the way and we were just waved on through.

The beach there is lovely and it was very humid and hot today. So some went swimming, some when shopping, and Mike and I took some time walking along the water and through town. I also managed to attract the companionship of a couple street dogs after I warmly said hello to one of them. He followed us for about a kilometer along the beach and then disappeared. About 5 minutes later, he returned with another dog and they both came bounding up to me to say hi. Very cute.

There were lots of places to rent bikes there. One of them appears to rent bikes by the pair, all matched in colour.

Mike, myself and a couple others ended off the evening at a restaurant along the beach, lit by candlelight.
