Day 3, Post 2

The wireless router crashed last night, so this is a late post. We had an awesome day yesterday, full of adventure. First though, you've seen him in video, but here's a pic of me with Arthur, my favorite sloth. And he's in my section, so I get lots of interaction with him. And don't let that cute face fool you...he's a thief! He constantly pilfers food from the cages next to him.

Now to the exciting part. Right by our kitchen and eating area, we got to see a wild Bradypus sloth mom with her baby. They were as close as 6 feet from the ground at one point. The sanctuary owns some  of the surrounding land, which is where they release the sloths they have rehabilitated. So there is a high probability of us getting to see wild sloths in the area.

In the evening, Eduardo (who is one of the guides here) took a group of us out on a hike in the wilderness. He and his machete blazed the way into paths unknown. It was quite fun. 

We got to see a white-nosed coati.

Afterwards, we had a encounter with wild coconuts....delicious :)
